The candidate, identified as Umukoro Deborah Efe-Zino, disclosed that she wrestled with the examination for two years before finally achieving success.
Deborah, who finished secondary school in 2024, sat for both WAEC and JAMB. While she passed the JAMB, her WAEC performance was hindered by English Language, which blocked her from attaining the desired grades.
She registered for a second attempt, yet the outcome remained disappointing.
The repeated setbacks took an emotional toll; she confessed to crying and questioning why her efforts did not yield results.
Breakthrough on third attempt
Determined not to quit, Deborah enrolled for the 2026 WASSCE at Tio College Itamaga Ikorodu and finally cleared every subject.
Her result revealed strong performance across all nine papers.
She earned: A1 in Marketing, A1 in Government, A1 in Civic Education, B3 in Christian Religious Studies, B3 in Economics, B3 in Literature in English, B3 in English Language, B3 in General Mathematics, and C5 in Yoruba.
This outcome marked a major turnaround for Deborah, who had previously battled with English Language in her earlier sittings.
“Delays are not denials”
Sharing her achievement online, Deborah urged others facing similar obstacles to persevere.
She wrote: “Delays are not denials. If you keep going, your testimony will come.”
