A Nigerian mother recently ignited online discussion after claiming that her cousin substituted the jollof rice she had paid for with moi moi during her baby’s naming ceremony.
She took to social media to express her upset, explaining that she had given her cousin cash for a modest pot of jollof rice and had also supplied four sizable chickens for the meal.
She Insists She Paid for Jollof Rice
She stated that she handed over ₦40,500 to her cousin specifically for preparing jollof rice for the ceremony.
Furthermore, she personally purchased four large chickens to serve as the meat component.
Yet, she was taken aback when her cousin showed up with a tray of moi moi rather than the expected jollof rice.
The Mother Wonders What Became of the Chicken
She noted that the moi moi contained no fish or eggs and questioned what had happened to the chickens she had provided.
She also claimed that while the moi moi was served to attendees, only a single guest—whom she called “Mama Lucky”—took a portion home.
According to her account, her cousin later asserted that the chicken had been ground and blended into the bean mixture used for the moi moi.
She voiced her disappointment in the following statement:
“My mothers and fathers please 🙏 judge this without any bias. This is the Alele my cousin sister cooked for my son’s naming. I gave her N40,500 to make small Jollof, I buy four big chicken for the meat. Lo and behold yesterday moi moi is what she brought to serve. That moi moi is better than rice. As how now? Oil moi moi no single fish or egg inside.
“All the people they serve only one woman Mama Lucky packed moi moi because that one is a hungryy fellow she no dey reject anything.
“My cousin is here and I am here. This moi moi is 40 pieces and she said she grounded the chicken inside the beans. Who have hear such things let her come out.
“I promise her this is not the end. How I gave money for rice and ended up with moi moi and the chickens ground inside the beans.”
