A Nigerian man has ignited online discussion after sharing how a woman he previously helped with ₦55,000 for a ring light later requested ₦300,000, and when he declined, she blocked him.
He explained that the woman contacted him via direct message, praising his content and expressing her ambition to become a content creator, but lacking funds for a ring light. After inquiring about the cost, he transferred ₦55,000 to support her goal.
He recalled saying, “The sense of entitlement among Nigerian women warrants examination. I noticed a message from a lady who admired my work and wished to start creating content, yet she could not afford a ring light. I asked the price, she replied ₦55,000, and I promptly sent the funds.”
Later, after a period of silence, she returned asking for a ₦300,000 loan, promising repayment within three months. He refused, noting her status as a student without verifiable income, but offered ₦100,000 instead.
She insisted on the full ₦300,000. He responded that he could not lend that sum. When she then asked for the ₦100,000, he said the opportunity had passed, and she subsequently blocked him. He remarked, “Imagine if I had actually lent her ₦300,000.”
The incident has provoked varied reactions across social platforms, with users debating themes of generosity, perceived entitlement, and the ethics of lending money.

“The level of entitlement among Nigerian women is outrageous. While scrolling my DMs, I saw a woman request 55,000 for a ring light, which I provided. Months later she asked for a 300,000 loan, claiming she had spent her mother’s money. I offered 100,000…” – D3VID 🐢 (@DurkioWiz), July 17, 2026 pic.twitter.com/bLgvmnZies
