A young Nigerian lady named Uzzibi Methuselah has attracted widespread attention after announcing she earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from Babcock University at age 26.
She detailed her academic path on LinkedIn, noting that her ambition to pursue a PhD began during her teenage years.
‘At 15, I Dreamed It’ – The Lady’s Statement
She explained that the aspiration originated in 2015, right after she finished her WASSCE examinations at fifteen years old.
“At 15, I envisioned it. At 26, I achieved it. Today I have fulfilled the earliest long‑term goal I ever set for myself. I defended my doctoral dissertation entitled “Boko Haram Deradicalization and Human Security in Northeast Nigeria” and was awarded a PhD in Political Science, focusing on Defense and Strategic Studies.”
Reflecting on Her Scholarly Path
In retrospect, she recounted how that exam‑hall experience forged her enduring ambition.
“I recall sitting in the exam hall at fifteen, after my final WASSCE paper, contemplating where I hoped to be a decade later. A PhD stood out as a clear objective. After years of hard work, I can now proudly announce that I have earned my doctorate.”
“I have much to express, yet my predominant feeling is gratitude. I thank my supervisors, Professor Ayandiji Daniel AINA, PhD, and Dr. Goodnews Osah, for their unwavering support and for repeatedly reviewing my manuscript, offering valuable feedback and corrections.”
“I am especially thankful to my father and chief supporter, Professor Methuselah Jeremiah, who has acted as a steady advisor and mentor throughout my educational journey.”
“I also owe thanks to my dear friend, Abiola ISIKALU—soon to be a doctor herself—who has served as my initial peer reviewer and favorite collaborator. I am grateful to numerous others who will receive my appreciation both publicly and privately. Thank you all.”
