NFF Sets Timetable for 2026 Executive Committee Elections
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Electoral Committee has published the timetable for the 2026 NFF Executive Committee elections. Sale of nomination forms commences on Saturday, 1 August, and candidates must submit completed forms by 12 August.
The election itself is scheduled for 27 September in Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa State. Following the submission deadline, the committee will notify candidates of any document irregularities between 13 and 19 August, with a correction window from 20 to 27 August.
Candidate screening will take place from 27 to 30 August. A provisional list of cleared candidates will be released on 31 August, giving disqualified aspirants from 1 to 3 September to lodge appeals. The appeals committee is expected to conclude its work between 4 and 10 September.
The final list of eligible candidates will be published between 11 and 12 September. The delegates’ list will follow on 13 September, and approved candidates may campaign from 14 to 24 September ahead of the poll. Election petitions must be submitted by 30 September.
CAF Delegation Inspects Proposed Venues in Nigeria
In related news, a five‑member delegation from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) arrived in Nigeria to assess facilities earmarked for the CAF 48th Ordinary General Assembly and the annual CAF Awards ceremony. The team, led by Dr Christian Emeruwa, Head of Safety and Security, began its inspection in Abuja.
The delegation visited Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre (proposed for the General Assembly), and the Transcorp Hilton Hotel. The visit follows federal government approval granted two months ago after a request by CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe during the Africa Summit in Nairobi.
Other CAF officials accompanying the team are Mohammed Bakeer (technology), Inas Ahmed (travel and accommodation), Salah Mostafa (transport), and Hervé Dassoundo (branding). They are being assisted by an NFF contingent comprising Dr Ademola Olajire (Media and Communications), Alizor Chuks (Marketing), Barnabas Joro (Security), Emmanuel Ayanbunmi (Protocol), and Tasiu Riskuwa Shehu (ICT).
The CAF Congress remains the confederation’s premier non‑competition event; Nigeria has previously hosted it in 1980 and 2009. After concluding the Abuja leg, the delegation will move to Lagos to evaluate the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts (proposed venue for the CAF Awards), Murtala Muhammed International Airport, and EKO Hotel & Suites.
