Mudryk Cleared to Play Again
Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk can immediately return to action after resolving his prolonged anti‑doping case with the Football Association.
The FA announced on Friday that disciplinary proceedings have concluded following Mudryk’s acceptance of a rule breach and agreement to a sanction matching the period he has already served, making him eligible for competition right away.
In a statement, Mudryk said he felt relieved to put the ordeal behind him, describing it as the toughest chapter of his career, while reiterating that he never knowingly took a banned substance.
Chelsea welcomed the outcome, saying the club is eager to support the winger’s return, help him regain full fitness, rejoin the squad and get back on the pitch, and noted he is expected to join the team during their pre‑season tour.
Mudryk also expressed deep gratitude to everyone at Chelsea and excitement for the next phase of his career.
The FA had kept details confidential under its anti‑doping programme until the announcement, revealing that an out‑of‑competition test while on Ukraine duty in October 2024 showed an adverse finding for meldonium.
He was formally charged in June 2025, received a four‑year suspension in January, and the ban became public in April after his appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
The governing body said the sample contained a low concentration of meldonium, a prohibited cardiovascular drug that can boost respiratory capacity and stamina.
The FA added that the World Anti‑Doping Agency has since updated its technical guidance on meldonium testing, noting that under the current standards the concentration would not have triggered an adverse finding.
