Minister Wike Counters ADC’s ‘Nigerians Won’t Eat Roads’ Remark, Commends Tinubu’s Road Projects
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, spoke on Thursday after the ADC issued a press release claiming that Nigerians “won’t eat roads alone.”
Wike made his remarks while commissioning the interchange at Arterial Road N16 and Ring Road III Intersection, which links Jahi District to Gwarimpa District in the FCT.
President Bola Tinubu was represented at the event by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
According to Wike, the ADC’s statement actually conceded that the Tinubu administration has performed well in road infrastructure.
“I got the news of the press release by the ADC to the Presidency that we are not going to eat roads alone. Beautiful — ADC has agreed that, in terms of road infrastructures, Mr President has done very well,” he said.
He added that road infrastructure remains central to development in any society, connecting citizens to schools, farms, hospitals, and economic opportunities.
“Without roads you cannot go to school, farm, or hospital. Road is the bedrock and engine of development in any part of this world,” Wike concluded.
