A woman who says she is a military spouse has ignited online discussion after stating that military families will not back President Bola Tinubu in the forthcoming 2027 election due to worries about troops’ welfare and compensation.
In a clip spreading across social platforms, she noted that while active-duty soldiers are barred from partisan politics by law, their wives retain full civilian voting rights. She asserted that wives of service members nationwide intend to use their ballots to register disapproval of the current administration.
Military Spouse Addresses Soldiers’ Welfare
She declared, “We are mobilising in full force for 2027. Military wives will not vote for Tinubu, and nothing will change that.”
She also challenged the government’s assertions of raising soldiers’ pay, claiming that military households have not observed the alleged increase.
Quoting her, “You have not raised soldier salaries. Even when your spokesperson, retired Musa, says the pay went from 49 to 100, we still do not see even that modest amount.”
Furthermore, she argued that official promises have failed to materialise for military families.
