Michael Emenalo Set to Depart Saudi Pro League Executive Role After Three Years
Former Super Eagles defender Michael Emenalo will leave his role as chief football executive of the Saudi Pro League at the end of his three‑year contract, according to reports.
Emenalo, who joined the league in 2023, will also step down as head of the Player Acquisition Center of Excellence (PACE).
During his tenure, the former Chelsea technical director helped attract several high‑profile players to Saudi Arabia and advocated for a strategy to lower the league’s average age by bringing in younger talent.
The ex‑Nigeria international is said to be seeking a move nearer to his family, with European clubs already expressing interest in his services.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the Saudi Pro League thanked Emenalo for his contributions, wishing him success in future endeavours.
Reflecting on his time in the kingdom, Emenalo described the experience as marked by ambition and progress, noting the foundations laid for the league’s transformation.
He added that while work remains, he leaves the league on a strong footing, well positioned for continued growth, and expressed gratitude for the support of SPL staff, club presidents, and sporting directors.
