Lukman Urges Opposition to Strengthen Strategy for 2027 Polls
Former All Progressives Congress (APC) Vice Chairman Salihu Lukman has called on Nigeria’s opposition parties to improve their tactics if they hope to unseat the ruling party in the 2027 general elections.
Lukman expressed a clear desire to see President Bola Tinubu’s administration defeated, but he voiced deep frustration with the current state of the opposition.
He warned that, without a change in approach, the opposition risks repeating the mistakes of the 2023 polls, despite any judicial outcomes that may arise.
The former APC leader stressed the need to curb personal ambitions among opposition leaders and prioritize the nation’s destiny over individual interests.
Reflecting on earlier efforts to build a united coalition, Lukman recalled that the original goals were to bring opposition leaders together and to create a party capable of holding elected officials accountable.
As things stand, he believes the opposition is on a path to re‑enact the 2023 scenario and expect a miraculous turnaround — a prospect he finds unrealistic.
