Lukman Urges Opposition to Improve Strategy for 2027 Victory
Former All Progressives Congress (APC) Vice Chairman Salihu Lukman has called on Nigeria’s opposition parties to step up their game if they hope to unseat the ruling party in the 2027 general elections.
While expressing a personal desire to see President Bola Tinubu’s administration defeated, Lukman voiced frustration with the current state of the opposition, warning that it may repeat the mistakes seen in the 2023 polls.
He stressed the need to curb personal ambitions among opposition leaders and prioritize the country’s destiny, urging the formation of a united coalition capable of holding elected officials accountable.
“Look, as a person, I don’t have any restraint. I want APC and President Tinubu defeated out of government in 2027. But the way we are going about it, I’m frustrated,” Lukman said.
He added that, despite any judicial outcomes, the opposition appears headed for a repeat of 2023 unless it changes its approach and builds a party that can truly challenge the incumbent.
