Kwankwaso Confirms Signed One-Term Presidency Agreement with Peter Obi
Former Kano State Governor and 2027 vice‑presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Rabiu Kwankwaso, said on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme that Peter Obi would serve only one term if he wins the 2027 presidential election.
Kwankwaso added that a written agreement exists both between himself and Obi and between Obi and the party, confirming the one‑term commitment.
He expressed confidence that Obi will honour the pledge, stating, “I personally believe him, and I don’t think, based on what I now know about him, that he will renege. I don’t think he will change his mind. We have put the agreement on paper, one with the party and one between the two of us.”
The declaration reinforces the NDC’s stance on limiting presidential tenure to a single term, a point the party has highlighted in its campaign messaging.
