Kwankwaso Confirms Meeting With Ex‑President Obasanjo in Kano
The Vice‑Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Rabiu Kwankwaso, has confirmed that he met former President Olusegun Obasanjo in Kano.
In a statement posted on his 𝕏 account on Friday, Kwankwaso said the meeting occurred on Thursday, 25 June 2026. He noted that he was accompanied by the former Deputy Governor of Kano State and the NDC’s gubernatorial candidate, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo.
“Last night, I paid a courtesy visit to our esteemed leader, His Excellency Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, at his accommodation in Kwankwaso wrote in the personally signed statement.
He added, “I was accompanied by the former Deputy Governor and our gubernatorial candidate, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo.” The statement also included photographs from the encounter.
Kwankwaso previously served as Minister of Defence during Obasanjo’s second term from 2003 to 2007 and has maintained a positive relationship with the former president ever since.
