Kenneth Okonkwo Accuses Peter Obi of Being Classless and Targeting Southeast Leaders
Kenneth Okonkwo, a senior figure in the African Democratic Congress and a Nollywood actor, has described Peter Obi — the 2027 presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress — as a classless, non‑charismatic politician with little legal knowledge and zero depth.
Speaking about the defamation suit filed by Obi against him, Okonkwo said the former Anambra State governor’s legal team needs to better educate him on what constitutes defamation.
Okonkwo insisted that his remarks about Obi are already in the public domain and therefore cannot be defamatory. He labelled Obi a compulsive liar who is determined to destroy every rising star from the South‑East.
He backed the claim made by Festus Keyamo, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, that Obi “lies like a fish drinks water,” saying he agrees with that assessment.
Okonkwo explained that a defamation action can only be based on statements already made, not on what someone intends to say. He criticised Obi for attempting to sue him over remarks that Obi claims he “intends to say,” which he argues is legally illogical.
He noted that Obi’s pre‑action notice already demanded compensation before any court filing, showing that the legal move is merely a tool to extract concessions rather than a genuine claim.
Okonkwo challenged Obi to sue other critics — such as Sowore or Arabambi — if the allegations were truly false, pointing out that no such suits have been filed against them.
He concluded by urging Obi’s lawyers to educate their client on the basics of defamation law and warned that the politician’s pattern of false statements undermines his credibility and suitability for national office.
