Iyabo Obasanjo Slams Solomon Adeola: ‘If It Was Insulting, Why Offer Me Money to Stay in APC?’
Former Ogun State governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Iyabo Obasanjo, has fired back at allegations by the party’s governorship candidate, Solomon Adeola, that she left the party after being offered money.
Adeola claimed that when Obasanjo could not secure funds from him, she turned to the PDP’s governorship candidate, Ladi Adebutu, to meet her demands.
In a sharply worded statement, Obasanjo labelled Adeola “a liar” and a politician devoid of integrity.
She argued that his accusation contradicts his own alleged attempts to persuade her not to quit the APC.
Obasanjo explained that during their last meeting, her political team presented three requests: the Senate seat, a refund of her campaign expenses, and the inclusion of her supporters in Adeola’s campaign.
She said she told Adeola she would inform her supporters of whatever response he gave, but he failed to address any of the three points and did not contact her again until after she had left the party.
According to Obasanjo, Adeola then reached out and offered her money to remain in the APC.
“If he thought the request for reimbursement was insulting, why would he offer me money not to leave the party? He has no integrity and is a liar,” she stated.
The three individuals who made the requests were Hon. Aroyeun, Chief Toyin Jokosenumi, and Hon. Biodun Ajayi. Obasanjo clarified that she did not make personal demands; she merely asked Adeola to communicate what he could deliver.
