Ivan Toney Charged With Assault Following London Nightclub Incident
England striker Ivan Toney has been formally charged with assault causing actual bodily harm after an alleged incident at a central London nightclub.
The 30‑year‑old forward, who currently plays for Saudi Pro League club Al Ahli, was charged on 31 July over an incident said to have occurred on Wardour Street in Soho on 6 December 2025. He is due to appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 24 September.
A spokesperson for Toney said, “Ivan acknowledges the charge and, although naturally shocked, he looks forward to the opportunity to clear his name in court.”
The court date falls just two days before England’s UEFA Nations League match against World Cup holders Spain at Wembley, creating uncertainty over his availability for the fixture.
Toney received a surprise recall to Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for this summer’s FIFA World Cup. He came on as a late substitute in the semi‑final against Argentina and started England’s 6‑4 third‑place play‑off victory over France.
He transferred to Al Ahli from Brentford in August 2024 for a reported £40 million after establishing himself as one of the Premier League’s leading goalscorers. During his Brentford spell he scored 72 goals in 141 appearances, including 36 goals across three Premier League seasons.
Before Brentford, Toney played for Northampton Town, Newcastle United and Peterborough United. He also featured in England’s run to the Euro 2024 final after returning from a gambling suspension that kept him out of the first half of the 2023‑24 season.
