INEC Grants Access Codes to APC, PDP, ADC, NDC and Other Parties for 2027 Election Candidate Uploads
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has issued access codes to nine registered political parties, enabling them to upload the names of their candidates for the 2027 general elections.
The parties said to have received the codes include the All Progressives Congress (APC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), African Democratic Congress (ADC) and Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), among others.
Candidates will contest presidential, governorship, Senate and House of Representatives seats, except in Kogi and Osun states where governorship elections are held off‑cycle.
A senior INEC official, speaking anonymously, dismissed claims that the NDC had been denied access to the nomination portal.
“It is misinformation to suggest that the NDC was denied an access code to upload its candidates to the INEC portal,” the official told Leadership.
“The commission has no reason to deny any registered political party access to the platform. I can confirm that the NDC was among the parties that received their access codes.”
The clarification followed allegations from NDC officials, who said they were told INEC would get back to them when they sought the code.
Osa Director, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, reportedly said they approached INEC for the access code and were informed they would be contacted later, adding that any delay should not be blamed on the party.
However, the INEC source insisted that all eligible parties were treated fairly and transparently, adding that more parties are expected to receive their credentials before the close of business, raising the total to about 13.
The official urged Nigerians to ignore reports suggesting some parties would be barred from the portal, reiterating INEC’s commitment to a level playing field for all participants in the 2027 elections.
