INEC Denies Rumor of Voter Registration Suspension in Delta State
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has refuted a viral claim that the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise in Akwukwu Igbo, Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State, was halted because of a faulty machine.
INEC described the circulating report as false, misleading, and not issued by the commission.
The commission clarified that the CVR activity is proceeding according to its approved rotation schedule, noting that the registration equipment had already been deployed to Ibusa earlier on Thursday, where the process was carried out successfully.
INEC added that the registration centre in Akwukwu Igbo will resume operations from July 6 to 10, in line with the established local government area timetable.
Residents of Akwukwu Igbo and nearby communities are urged to ignore the viral message and rely solely on official INEC channels for accurate information.
The statement also advised eligible voters to go ahead with their registration and update exercises as planned, without concern for cancellation or disruption.
INEC reiterated its dedication to delivering a transparent, credible, and accessible CVR process throughout the state, guaranteeing all qualified residents an equal chance to participate in the electoral exercise.
