Former Minister of Transportation and ex-Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, has opened up about how losing the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential ticket to Bola Tinubu deeply affected his personal life and faith.
In a recent disclosure, Amaechi explained that after the primary election, his mind was less on personal disappointment and more on the dire condition of the country. He became troubled by the hardship Nigerians face daily, prompting him to question why suffering persists despite constant prayers across the nation.
This internal struggle, according to the former governor, disrupted his usual prayer routine. He admitted that he stopped attending regular prayer sessions with his spiritual guide during that period. His deep concerns about Nigeria made him withdraw and reflect intensely, creating a noticeable distance in his spiritual life.
“I began to ask God, ‘God, do you honestly believe that Nigerians should continue to suffer?’ And then it affected my faith a bit; I stopped praying,” Amaechi said.
The former Rivers governor also shared that his spiritual guide eventually reached out after noticing his absence. During their conversation, Amaechi’s worries about the nation and his doubts about prayer were addressed. He was reminded about faith and acceptance concerning matters beyond human control.
