Relative Describes Uncle’s Fatal Encounter
She explained that the abductors seized her uncle together with his two sons while they were en route to Lagos. The kidnappers demanded an eleven‑million‑naira ransom, which the family managed to pay. While held captive, the uncle grew thirsty and requested water. That simple plea triggered a deadly response; one of the gunmen shot him in the head before his sons’ eyes. The militants then compelled the boys to transport their father’s lifeless body through the bush.
Aftermath of the Attack
In the ensuing chaos, one of the sons was killed while the other managed to escape. The bodies of the uncle and his deceased son remain in the captors’ hands. The woman lamented, ‘The tragedy ripped apart our family, and my uncle’s wife has never truly healed from the trauma. Some scars never fade; they become part of those left behind. May God grant them eternal peace and continue to comfort everyone they left behind. May Nigeria never experience such horror.’
