A Fulani individual has ignited online discussion after describing his personal encounters with insecurity and the difficulties confronting his community amidst increasing worries about banditry and violence in various Nigerian regions.
Fulani man says he is innocent
In a social media statement that gained traction, he noted that many Fulani folks also dread criminal acts and experience the same security challenges as other Nigerians.
His comments emerge during ongoing nationwide talks about insecurity, bandit assaults, abductions, and how different ethnicities are viewed concerning crime.
Speaking from a countryside location, he expressed the fear and unease he feels while going about his everyday tasks.
He emphasized that insecurity does not discriminate based on ethnicity or origin.
He said, “The struggles faced by innocent Fulani people are no different from those experienced by others. I am currently in the bush, wary of running into bandits. Fulani individuals confront the same obstacles as everyone else. Crime knows no faith or tribe. Roughly 95% of Fulanis are blameless.”
Growing debate on insecurity
The remark triggered online reactions, with numerous Nigerians debating the wider effect of insecurity on various communities.
Some commentators concurred that linking criminality to an entire ethnic group is misguided, while others urged for stronger security actions to safeguard all citizens irrespective of background.
His observations have contributed to continuing dialogues about safety, ethnic stereotyping, and the necessity of joint initiatives to combat crime in Nigeria.
As insecurity persists as a pressing issue, conversations proceed on how communities can collaborate to foster peace and security.
He reiterated, “The challenges we innocent Fulanis are facing are no different from those faced by others. I’m in the bush right now, and I’m scared of encountering bandits. We Fulanis face the same challenges as everyone else. Crime has no religion or tribe. About 95% of Fulanis are innocent.” – @AsakyGRN, June 21, 2026.
