Jonathan’s 2027 Presidential Bid Warned to Disrupt Politics
Fred Agbedi, the former lawmaker who represented Sagbama/Ekeremor Federal Constituency in Bayelsa State, has stated that former President Goodluck Jonathan’s decision to join the 2027 presidential race will upset the entire Nigerian political atmosphere.
Agbedi confirmed that Jonathan will seek the presidency under the banner of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). When questioned about the impact of Jonathan’s candidacy alongside other contenders such as Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi and Omoyele Sowore, he replied, “It means so much; it will upset the entire political atmosphere.”
The Bayelsa‑born politician argued that Jonathan is now more prepared than ever to lead the country, describing him as the best person to steer Nigeria at this moment. He added, “A serious democracy looks for the best individuals wherever they are and asks them to lead when the nation is in dire straits. That is exactly what we need.”
Agbedi also noted that after eight years of Muhammadu Buhari’s administration and three years under President Bola Tinubu, many Nigerians are longing for another four years of Jonathan’s leadership to bring stability. He asserted that the current APC‑led government has made life tougher for citizens and that a Jonathan presidency is viewed as the rescue the country requires.
