Former ADC Leader Salihu Lukman Sets Condition for Rejoining Party
Former African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain Salihu Lukman has declared that he would consider returning to the party only if it leads to a united effort to field a credible candidate capable of earning the confidence of Nigerians, regardless of party affiliation.
Lukman explained that he had suspended his ADC membership out of frustration with the party’s direction. He stressed that his current remarks are not made as an ADC member but as a concerned Nigerian facing serious national challenges.
“I suspended my ADC membership out of frustration. I am not speaking as an ADC member because Nigeria is facing a serious challenge,” he said. “Partisan politics will not get us out of the situation we are in. I am prepared to retain my ADC membership if it helps bring all the party’s leaders together, because Nigeria is bigger than the ADC.”
The former ADC official also called on the opposition to step up its game if it hopes to unseat the ruling party. While he expressed a strong desire to see the incumbent administration defeated, Lukman voiced disappointment with the current state of the opposition.
He warned that opposition leaders risk repeating the mistakes of the 2023 elections, despite any judicial processes, unless they set aside personal ambitions and prioritize the country’s destiny.
