Family’s Appeal for Body Recovery
The relatives of Michael Olugbade Oyedokun, the educator killed during the abduction of pupils and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, have called on the Federal Government and security agencies to help retrieve his remains.
Gratitude for the Safe Return of Others
In a heartfelt statement, the family thanked authorities for the safe return of the other abducted children and teachers, noting that each reunited household serves as a reminder that hope persists.
Ongoing Mourning and Need for Closure
Nevertheless, they emphasized that their own household remains in grief, pointing out that 58 days have passed since Michael was seized, and they continue to wait—not for a miracle, but for the opportunity to lay him to rest with dignity.
Denial of Farewell and Healing Process
According to the family, the absence of his body has prevented his wife, children, and loved ones from saying their final goodbye and embarking on the healing journey.
Appeal to Authorities for a Dignified Burial
They urged the authorities to recover his remains so he can receive a dignified and befitting burial, stressing that their “final goodbye” should not stay unfinished.

We are grateful to the government and security agencies for the safe return of the children and teachers. Every family reunited with their loved one is a reminder that hope still exists.
But our family remains in mourning.
58 days after Michael Olugbade Oyedokun was taken from us, we are still waiting… not for a miracle, but for the opportunity to lay him to rest.
Every day without his body is another day his wife cannot say goodbye. Another day his children have no grave to visit. Another day our family is denied the dignity and closure that every human being deserves.
We respectfully appeal to the authorities: please bring Michael body home.
Help us so we can give him the honourable and befitting burial he deserves. Our grief cannot begin to heal until we can bring him home.
Please don’t let our final goodbye remain unfinished. Bring Michael home.
