Ex-Oyo Coordinator Ahmed Ajibola Explains His Resignation from City Boy Movement
Former Oyo State Coordinator of the City Boy Movement, Ahmed Ajibola, has clarified the reasons behind his resignation, stating that his departure was guided by personal principles rather than any forced removal.
Ajibola dismissed social media rumors claiming he had been sacked or had made disparaging remarks about President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Seyi Tinubu and other movement leaders. He pointed out that no dismissal, termination or removal letter was ever issued, underscoring that his exit was voluntary.
In his resignation letter addressed to the national leadership, Ajibola expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve as Oyo State coordinator but said he declined the new positions offered to him. He emphasized that his decision stemmed from principle, not bitterness.
He described his vision of leadership as being built on fairness, loyalty, transparency, competence and mutual respect. According to Ajibola, recent developments within the Oyo State structure have convinced him that he can no longer remain with the movement “in good conscience.”
The former coordinator voiced disappointment with the direction the movement has taken under its newly appointed state leadership, noting that certain actions and decisions have strayed from the values that originally inspired many members to devote their time, energy and resources to the group’s growth.
Despite stepping away from the City Boy Movement, Ajibola stressed that his support for President Tinubu and the Renewed Hope Agenda remains unchanged. “Let me make one thing abundantly clear: my resignation does not in any way diminish my support, admiration, and loyalty to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR,” he said.
