Ekiti Governorship Election: INEC Uploads 34.6% of Polling Unit Results
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has begun uploading polling unit results from the Ekiti State governorship election to its Result Viewing Portal (IReV).
As of 6:00 p.m., INEC had uploaded 846 results out of the expected 2,445 polling unit returns, representing 34.60 percent of the total.
The uploads followed the completion of voting, sorting and ballot counting in several polling units across the state.
Data from the IReV portal indicated that results from some wards in Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government Area had already been posted.
Iyin I Ward recorded nine uploaded results out of 23 polling units, while Igbemo Ward also had nine results uploaded out of 21 polling units.
Other wards with uploaded results included Are Ward 02, where four of 10 polling unit results had been uploaded; Igede II, four of 15; Igede III, one of 11; and Afao, three of eight.
Igede I had five of 15 results uploaded, Iworoko had three of 22, Iropora/Esure/Eyio had one of 16, Awo had three of 12, while Iyin II had six of 21 polling unit results uploaded.
The number of uploaded results is expected to rise as collation continues across Ekiti State.
Voting ended in many polling units at about 3:00 p.m., after which election officials commenced sorting and counting ballots.
Residents turned out in large numbers on Saturday to vote in the governorship election conducted across the 16 local government areas of Ekiti State.
