Ekiti 2026: Governor Oyebanji Wins Landslide Victory in Senator Bamidele’s Polling Unit
The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Governor Biodun Oyebanji, achieved a resounding victory in the polling unit belonging to Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele during the Ekiti 2026 governorship election held on Saturday.
According to the official results announced by Polling Officer Ms. Elizabeth Oregbemeh, Oyebanji polled 164 votes. His nearest competitor, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Wole Oluyede, managed only eight votes, while Action Democratic Party (ADP) contender Ayodeji Ojo secured a single vote.
Election Conduct and Voter Turnout
Prior to the announcement, Governor Oyebanji expressed satisfaction with the overall conduct of the election, noting that the process had remained peaceful and that voter turnout was encouraging across many communities.
He added that reports from various parts of the state indicated a smooth progression of the exercise, with many residents responding positively to calls to participate in the voting process.
Technical Hiccups and Governor’s Appeal
Although a few polling units experienced technical difficulties during the accreditation phase—particularly with electronic voter verification devices failing to capture certain voters’ details, which caused early‑morning delays—the governor urged citizens to remain calm and patient.
Oyebanji’s appeal emphasized the importance of maintaining order and confidence in the electoral process despite the isolated challenges.
