EFCC Chairman Urges Anti-Corruption Commitment During Sallah
The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has congratulated Muslims across Nigeria on the occasion of Sallah.
Olukoyede called on Muslim faithful to reflect on the shared values of faith and unity, describing the festival as another opportunity to share the light, love, and blessings of Almighty Allah with the world.
Speaking in Abuja on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, he stressed the importance of peaceful celebrations and national cohesion, urging citizens to use the festive period to renew their commitment to transparency and to reject corruption, which he labelled a major obstacle to national development.
He noted that every religion upholds honesty and accountability, and that the Sallah celebration should reinforce moral conduct among Nigerians.
“As we celebrate, let us attune our hearts to the ideals of transparency and anti‑corruption in a renewed way. Greed is not a creed of any religion. Honesty draws us closer to Allah, and we must exemplify it always,” he said.
The EFCC reiterated that sustained anti‑corruption efforts require collective responsibility from citizens, institutions, and faith leaders. It added that public conduct during festive periods should reflect integrity, discipline, and respect for the rule of law.
Olukoyede also encouraged faith communities to intensify moral education and to support government reforms aimed at strengthening accountability across all sectors.
The Sallah message comes amid ongoing national conversations about fiscal discipline and institutional reforms, with the EFCC maintaining that behavioural change remains central to reducing corruption risks.
