EFCC Accused of Double Standards as Osun Account Frozen, Ekiti Vote‑Buying Ignored – Isaac Fayose
Isaac Fayose, social commentator and younger brother of former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose, has condemned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for freezing the Osun State Government’s bank account.
He questioned why the anti‑graft agency targeted Osun while allegedly ignoring similar vote‑buying practices in Ekiti during the June governorship election.
“How can you freeze an entire state account, affecting about four million citizens? Why wasn’t Ekiti’s account frozen in June when large‑scale vote buying was reported?” he asked.
Fayose accused the EFCC of applying double standards, claiming that state governments aligned with the Federal Government are spared such scrutiny during elections, whereas Osun is being singled out ahead of its August 15 governorship poll.
He also warned that unnamed political forces are already plotting to manipulate the 2027 general election, and urged Nigerians to demand the resignation of the Independent National Electoral Commission chairman and the EFCC leadership if they want change.
“These actors will return if we stay silent. The more we stay quiet, the more they will repeat their actions,” he said.
