Dele Momodu Apologises to Rotimi Amaechi Over Atiku Remarks
Veteran journalist Dele Momodu has issued an apology to presidential aspirant Rotimi Amaechi after claims surfaced that he had insulted the former minister.
The apology was posted on X (formerly Twitter) in response to allegations that Momodu had attacked Amaechi’s character.
Amaechi had earlier expressed confidence that he would clinch the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential ticket, downplaying the prospect of a consensus candidate.
Appearing on Channels Television, Momodu urged Amaechi to “cool his temper,” stating that a potential Nigerian president must guard his temperament and avoid attacking fellow politician Atiku Abubakar.
Amaechi and his supporters interpreted Momodu’s remarks as abusive, prompting the journalist to share photos of himself and the former minister on social media.
In his message, Momodu wrote, “My dear friend and brother, The Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, I did not abuse you, please. I only pleaded with you not to insult Atiku, a perfect gentleman who, despite the age gap, continues to respect all of us. You know I’m as frank as you are and only spoke candidly the way true friends must speak to each other… Love and respect always…”
