Davido Expresses Reservations About His Children Entering Music
Nigerian superstar David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, revealed that he hopes none of his six children will follow his footsteps into the music industry.
Speaking on the Vibe podcast, Davido admitted that his second daughter, Hailey Veronica Adeleke, already shows a strong interest in music and possesses a good voice, yet he remains hesitant to encourage her.
“I don’t want any of my children to pursue music. Hailey is already leaning towards it; she behaves just like me and has a nice voice,” he said. “But I know what I have endured. Knowing my own struggles, I am sceptical about pushing any of them into this career.”
Despite his reservations, Davido emphasized that he would not stand in the way of his children’s dreams, noting that his own parents supported his ambitions.
“Because my family eventually let me chase my dreams, I would never block my kids from doing the same. If they are talented, why not?” he added.
Davido’s Billionaire Heir Claim and Industry Challenges
The award‑winning singer also claimed that he is the only billionaire’s child worldwide who has built a successful name and fortune for himself.
Reflecting on the early obstacles he faced, Davido said his affluent background worked against him in an industry that favours “grass‑to‑grace” narratives.
He asserted that, despite those challenges, he has carved out his own legacy, making him the sole billionaire heir—not just in Africa but globally—to achieve such success.
“Not to brag, but can you name another billionaire’s child, anywhere in the world, who has made a name and earned substantial money? I believe there is none besides me,” Davido stated.
