Davido Expresses Doubt About His Children Entering Music
Nigerian superstar David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, shared his thoughts on his children’s future during a recent episode of The Vibe podcast. The father of six stated clearly that he hopes none of his offspring will choose a career in music.
He singled out his second daughter, Hailey Veronica Adeleke, noting that she already shows a strong interest in music and possesses a good voice. Despite her talent and lively personality, Davido admitted he feels uncertain about encouraging her to follow that path.
“I don’t want any of my children to pursue music. My second daughter [Hailey] is already leaning towards music. She is the life of the party. She behaves just like me. She actually has a good voice,” he said. “But I know what I went through. Can you go through what I go through? Knowing what I have been through, I’m sceptical about encouraging any of my children to do music,” he added.
Nevertheless, Davido emphasized that he would never stand in the way of his children’s aspirations. He pointed out that his own parents allowed him to chase his dreams, and he intends to extend the same freedom to his kids.
“But because my parents and my family eventually allowed me chase my dreams, I would never want to block any of my children from chasing their dreams. And if they are good, why not?” he remarked.
Davido’s Claim of Being a Unique Billionaire Heir
The award‑winning singer also used the interview to highlight his distinctive position as a billionaire’s child who has built his own name and fortune. He argued that no other offspring of a billionaire, either in Africa or worldwide, has achieved comparable success in the music industry.
“Not to brag, but which other billionaire’s child do you know, not just in Africa but in the world, that has made a name for himself and also made a lot of money? You can’t name one apart from me,” Davido asserted.
He traced his early challenges to his affluent background, explaining that African audiences often favor “grass to grace” narratives, which made his initial acceptance in the industry difficult. Despite those obstacles, he persevered, carved out his own legacy, and now views himself as a singular example of a wealthy heir who succeeded on his own merit.
