Davido Claims He’s the Only Self‑Made Billionaire’s Child Worldwide

Afrobeat superstar Davido, son of Nigerian billionaire Deji Adeleke, recently stated that he is the only child of a billionaire who has built his own fortune and reputation.

He explained that his affluent upbringing initially worked against him in the music scene, as African audiences tend to favour “grass‑to‑grace” narratives.

Despite those obstacles, Davido persevered, carving out a legacy that, he says, makes him the sole billionaire heir—not just in Africa but across the globe.

“Not to brag, but can you name another billionaire’s child, anywhere in the world, who has made a name for himself and earned substantial wealth?” he asked. “You can’t, except for me.”

The singer also recalled a frightening episode early in his career, just two months after his breakout songs began dominating radio play.

At that point he had released only a handful of tracks, yet their success had already brought him widespread recognition and a performance booking in Ghana.

The incident left him questioning whether the price of fame was worth the exposure it brought.
