Former Barcelona and Juventus defender Dani Alves has spoken openly about how his time in prison changed his perspective on life. He said he experienced more joy behind bars than during his trophy‑laden football career, despite earning only 113 euros a month while incarcerated.
Alves explained that his wealth and fame meant little without spiritual fulfilment. “I earned millions of euros through God and football, but in prison I only received 113 euros a month, and I was happier than before,” he remarked. The experience led him to rediscover his faith, prompting him to devote his life to missionary work.
Now an evangelical preacher, Alves insists that his relationship with God is the true source of his happiness, a shift he describes as the turning point that reshaped his values after the legal ordeal that once placed him in the global spotlight.
