Daddy Freeze Advises Lagos Landlords to Halt Church Property Rentals
Media figure Daddy Freeze has ignited online discussion by urging property owners in Lagos and throughout Nigeria to cease leasing their homes and vacant plots to religious institutions.
In a widely shared video on social platforms, he noted that while churches often offer higher rent than typical tenants, many later refuse to vacate and seek to claim ownership of the leased spaces.

Daddy Freeze Asserts Churches Seize Rented Premises
Speaking directly to landlords, he advised against renting both residential buildings and empty lots to churches, warning that such deals can spark ownership conflicts.
“This notice goes out to every landlord in Lagos and across the nation: stop letting churches use your houses or land. Although they tend to pay more than most renters, they never leave and eventually aim to take over your property.”
He clarified that he is not accusing every congregation, but claimed that the majority behave in this fashion.
“They will take possession of your asset. They arrive as tenants, then before you realize it they occupy the entire premises. Refrain from leasing your dwelling, particularly any unused land, to a church.”
Rented Space Deemed a Permanent Tithe
Daddy Freeze further argued that anyone who lets a church use land or a building should view it as an irrevocable donation.
“If you allow a church to occupy your empty lot, consider it as your tithe and offering. Any property you lease to a religious group becomes your ongoing contribution; you will not reclaim it.”
