Benue Commissioner Hits Out at Senator Moro Over Blame‑Shifting Tactics
Benue State Commissioner for Water Resources, Environment and Climate Change, Odoh Ugwu, has denounced Senator Abba Moro for allegedly exploiting the deaths caused by armed herders to score political points against Governor Hyacinth Alia.
Ugwu claimed that Moro is spreading falsehoods about the governor in a bid to stay relevant, arguing that the senator’s repeated attacks are merely a cover for his lacklustre performance in the Red Chamber.
Call for Constructive Representation in Benue South
The commissioner urged that Benue South deserves a senator who unites the populace and delivers tangible solutions, rather than one who resorts to sensational media appearances to deflect blame.
He questioned what concrete actions Moro has taken since his election to improve security, attract investment, empower youths, or alleviate hardship in the senatorial district, insisting that leadership is judged by deeds, not by televised soundbites.
Allegations of Inflated Aid Claims Scrutinized
Ugwu singled out Moro’s recent appearance on AIT, where the senator claimed to have boosted a ₦150,000 pledge made by a state commissioner to an Internally Displaced Persons camp. The commissioner challenged Moro to produce verifiable evidence if the claim is true, describing the statement as petty and detrimental to the senator’s public image.
Governor Alia’s Record of Inclusivity Highlighted
Despite the political attacks, Ugwu highlighted Governor Alia’s commitment to fairness and inclusion, noting that key ministries such as Finance, Education, Health, Women Affairs, Water Resources, Environment and Climate Change, and Information have been entrusted to Benue South officials.
He concluded that no amount of misinformation or character assassination can erase the administration’s visible achievements, and that the electorate is discerning enough to reject recycled propaganda.
