Benue State Commissioner for Water Resources, Environment and Climate Change, Odoh Ugwu, has accused Senator Abba Moro of exploiting the deaths caused by armed herders for political gain.
Commissioner’s Accusations
Ugwu claimed that Moro is propagating falsehoods against Governor Hyacinth Alia in a bid to stay politically relevant, describing the senator’s actions as a reckless torrent of distortions and desperate propaganda aimed at tarnishing the governor’s hard‑earned reputation.
Call for Responsible Representation
The commissioner stressed that Benue South deserves a senator who unites rather than divides, one who provides effective representation and works to solve the people’s problems instead of running to the media with baseless allegations and seeking to exploit suffering for political advantage.
Demand for Accountability
Ugwu challenged Senator Moro to show tangible interventions in security, development, youth empowerment, and hardship alleviation, noting that leadership is measured by action, not by sensational media outings or endless attempts to shift blame to cover up his failure after over seven years in the Red Chamber.
He also questioned Moro’s claim on AIT that he had augmented the ₦150,000 pledge made by a commissioner in Governor Alia’s administration to an Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp, urging the senator to present credible evidence to the public instead of making sweeping statements on national television.

Ugwu highlighted Governor Hyacinth Alia’s demonstrated fairness and inclusiveness toward Benue South, pointing out that the administration entrusted the zone with strategic ministries such as Finance, Education, Health, Women Affairs, Water Resources, Environment and Climate Change, and Information — all delivering meaningful policies and programmes for the Benue people.
