Bella Shmurda Claims $4m Lagos Property Purchase Was Fraudulent
Popular Nigerian singer Bella Shmurda, whose real name is Abiola Akinbiyi, has alleged that he was defrauded after paying $4 million for a property in Lagos State.
The artist said he recently discovered that the property did not belong to the person who sold it to him and that the building may be stolen.
He explained that the loss has left him devastated because the money represented proceeds from several years of hard work.
During a livestream, the visibly distressed singer appealed for help, stating, “Nigeria, I need your help. I’m not doing okay right now. I spent $4 million of my own hard‑earned money, only to find out I bought stolen property.”
Bella Shmurda added that the individual who handled the transaction could no longer be reached after receiving the payment, leaving him uncertain about how to recover his funds.
He said, “And now the seller has disappeared. Please, help me. Someone step in. I’ve got nothing left,” and emphasized that he worked for years to earn the amount and cannot afford to lose it.
The singer did not disclose when the transaction took place or how he learned that the seller allegedly lacked legal ownership of the property.
He said he has contacted his lawyer to investigate the circumstances and determine the appropriate legal steps to take.
Bella Shmurda did not reveal the identity of the alleged seller, the property’s location, title documents, or whether agents or intermediaries were involved in the deal.
As of the time of this report, his allegations have not been independently verified, and there has been no official statement from the police, other law‑enforcement agencies, or anyone connected to the transaction.
The unnamed seller has also not responded publicly to the claims.
