Atiku Abubakar Clinches ADC Presidential Primary in Zamfara
The former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has been declared the winner of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential primary held in Zamfara State.
Details of the Voting Exercise
The returning officer, Muhammad Musa, announced the results on Monday at the state collation centre in Gusau’s Command Guests House. He explained that the primary was conducted in all 147 political wards spread across the state’s 14 local government areas.
Out of 63,404 registered ADC members in Zamfara, a total of 61,137 votes were cast. Atiku polled 60,500 votes, securing a decisive victory.
Performance of Other Aspirants
Former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi garnered 191 votes, while Mohammed Hayatu-Deen received 446 votes.
Officials’ Remarks
Musa affirmed that the process followed the party’s guidelines and that the outcome reflected the total votes collated. He congratulated all aspirants and party members for maintaining peace throughout the exercise and urged ADC members to stay united as they prepare for the 2027 general elections.
