APC Set to Present Shettima as Tinubu’s 2027 Running Mate
The National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) gathered at the Continental Hotel in Abuja today to formally announce Vice President Kashim Shettima as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s running mate for the 2027 presidential election.
Senior party officials confirmed that Tinubu has re‑nominated Shettima and that the announcement will be made official during the meeting.
In a related development, Shettima hinted that former Adamawa State Governor Senator Muhammad Jibrilla Bindow may be preparing to rejoin the APC ahead of the 2027 polls.
Following a meeting with Bindow, Shettima posted a statement saying, “BINDOW IS COMING! I had fruitful discussions today in my office with my friend, brother and contemporary, Sen. Bindo Umaru Jibrilla, former Governor of Adamawa State, on politics, security, governance and issues of common interest.”
Bindow had previously left the APC in January 2023, citing a lack of genuine reconciliation among party stakeholders, and later joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC). He withdrew from the 2027 Adamawa governorship race under the ADC banner, citing personal reasons after deep reflection.
Despite his departure, Bindow reaffirmed his loyalty to the ADC’s ideals and its growth in Adamawa and nationwide.
Shettima’s recent remarks suggest that Bindow could return to the APC before the 2027 elections, a move that could reshape the political landscape in the North‑East.
