APC Wins Dawakin Kudu By-Election in Kano
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has secured a decisive victory in the Dawakin Kudu Federal Constituency by-election held in Kano State. Returning Officer Prof. Umar Sani of Bayero University, Kano announced the results after voting and collation concluded.
According to the official tally, APC candidate Rabiu Shuaibu garnered 35,356 votes. His nearest challenger, Lawal Garba Haruna of the African Peoples Movement (APM), received only 268 votes, while Abubakar Yahaya Muhammad of the Labour Party (LP) polled 98 votes.
Prof. Sani declared, “I hereby certify that I am the Returning Officer for the 2026 Dawakin Kudu Federal Constituency by-election held on 20th June 2026. The election was contested. The candidates received the following votes: Rabiu Shehu Aibu of APC scored 35,356 votes; Lawal Garba Haruna of APM scored 268 votes; and Abubakar Yahaya Muhammad of LP scored 98 votes.” He added that Rabiu Shehu Aibu, having satisfied the legal requirements, is declared the winner and returned elected.
The result reflects a sweeping win for the APC, with a substantial margin over the other contenders. Election officials described the process as orderly, and final collation and certification were completed at the constituency level.
