The National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Felix Morka, has dismissed any notion that opposition presidential aspirants could unseat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election.
Morka described claims that a crowded field of southern candidates would split votes and weaken Tinubu’s chances as baseless.
Tinubu’s Record Unmatched
Speaking to Tribune, Morka emphasized that Tinubu’s track record of achievement sets him apart from any rival.
“How can you dissipate what you don’t have any foothold to challenge? I wish them a lot of luck if that’s their game plan. You know, I can only just wish them luck. But I know that luck will not manifest because elections are not about luck. It’s about record. It’s about achievement. It’s about capacity. It’s about the assessment of the electorate regarding your ability to govern and to deliver.”

He argued that none of the contenders — Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Seyi Makinde, Donald Duke or others — have presented a vision or policy framework comparable to Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda.
Specific Critique of Peter Obi
Morka directly addressed the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, Peter Obi, criticizing his recent interview where the former Anambra State governor responded to questions about electricity with merely “trust me.”
“Peter Obi granted an interview recently where he was asked about electricity, and his only answer was, trust me. Trust me is not a statement of vision. Trust me is not a political manifesto. Trust me is not a programme of even any kind of programme of aspiration. Trust me, does not cut it. So if all Peter Obi could offer Nigerians is to tell Nigerians, trust me, because I’m Peter Obi, I will do better than this President!”

The APC spokesperson added that the party’s continual electoral victories across off‑cycle and by‑elections demonstrate a clear referendum by Nigerians who see no alternative to the APC.
Morka concluded that opposition figures remain active online, mobilizing supporters to criticize government actions, but such efforts will not translate into electoral success against Tinubu’s proven performance.
