APC Supports Obasanjo’s Caution on Atiku Abubakar
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has thrown its weight behind former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s remarks concerning the 2027 presidential hopeful of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Atiku Abubakar.
Speaking with Punch, APC National Secretary Ajibola Basiru said Obasanjo spoke from a position of deep knowledge about Atiku’s political career.
Basiru characterised Atiku as a “serial defector,” describing this trait as the hallmark of an unserious politician — a view that aligns with Obasanjo’s earlier criticisms.
“Obasanjo has said so many things about Atiku, and he is in a position to know who the former vice president really is,” Basiru stated. “His comments are a warning to Nigerians. No serious Nigerian should take Atiku seriously or give him another leadership opportunity.”
Basiru added that although Obasanjo is not endorsing the APC, his assessment of Atiku stems from personal familiarity. “In the interest of the country, Nigerians should disregard Atiku’s aspirations,” he concluded.
