APC Releases Updated NASS Candidate List
Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau, Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, Senate Chief Whip Mohammed Monguno, and Senator Adams Oshiomhole have received Candidate Affidavit Forms (EC9) as the All Progressives Congress continues uploading candidates’ details to the Independent National Electoral Commission portal.
This step follows the ratification of the party’s primary election results and a review conducted by the Primary Appeal Committees.
The ruling party has also cleared four incumbent governors to contest Senate seats:
- AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq – Kwara State
- Hope Uzodimma – Imo State
- Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri – Adamawa State
- Inuwa Yahaya – Gombe State
In addition, former Kaduna State Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero, Senator Shehu Sani, and Senator Sunday Marshall Katung have been cleared to run for Senate seats in Kaduna State.
Former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello secured the APC ticket for the Kogi Central Senatorial District.
The cleared individuals are part of the APC’s 109 senatorial candidates.
House of Representatives Clearances
For the House of Representatives, Speaker Abbas Tajudeen, Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu, James Abiodun Faleke, and Mudashiru Obasa are among those cleared to contest on the party’s platform.
Political parties are required to upload the names and particulars of their presidential and National Assembly candidates on the INEC nomination portal between June 27 and July 10. The required documentation includes Form EC9, which contains candidates’ personal particulars, as well as Forms EC9A through EC9E, listing the nominated candidates.
