APC Chairman Meets PDP Deputy Women Leader to Discuss National Unity
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, revealed that he recently met with Mrs. Hamsatu Adamu, Deputy National Women Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) faction loyal to Kabiru Turaki.
Sharing the details on his 𝕏 account on Friday, Yilwatda said the conversation centred on the need for national unity and the future of Nigeria. He stressed that, despite political differences, both parties agreed that peace, stability, and progress must remain a shared priority for the country.
“I had a cordial meeting with Mrs. Hamsatu Adamu, Deputy National Woman Leader in the Kabiru Tanimu Turaki‑led PDP National Working Committee,” he wrote. “Our discussions centered on the need for national unity and the future of Nigeria. We agreed that, beyond political differences, the peace, stability, and progress of our nation must remain our shared priority.”
The APC chairman added that he intends to hold further meetings with other opposition leaders, reiterating his commitment to engage all patriotic Nigerians in building a stronger, more united, and more prosperous nation.
PDP Faction Nominates Former President Jonathan for 2027 Election
In related news, a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party announced that it had submitted the name of former President Goodluck Jonathan to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as its presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, the National Publicity Secretary of the Interim National Working Committee, Ini Ememobong, said INEC acknowledged receipt of the documents, even though the faction claims it was denied access to electronic submission codes.
Ememobong maintained that this group represents the authentic leadership of the PDP, citing a Supreme Court judgment that left the party without a legally recognised national executive. He said the situation prompted the Party’s Board of Trustees and a National Executive Committee meeting, convened through members’ requisition, to establish an interim leadership structure.
