APC Chairman Denies Candidate Imposition in Primaries
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, has rejected allegations that candidates were imposed during the party’s primary elections.
Only Three Consensus Candidates Emerged
Yilwatda explained that out of 29 governorship contests involving returning governors and new aspirants, only three candidates emerged through consensus, while the remainder were decided via direct primaries.
Consensus Form Ensured Aspirant Agreement
He said the party introduced a consensus form that all aspirants must sign before a consensus candidate can be declared, ensuring transparency in the process.
Delays Addressed Complaints of Foul Play
Some primaries were postponed by two to three days after aspirants raised complaints of foul play, allowing the APC to investigate and reschedule the exercises.
Appeal Committees Set Up for Aggrieved Aspirants
Appeal committees were established to let aggrieved aspirants challenge the process, Yilwatda added.
