Aisha Yesufu Criticises Peter Obi’s Interview for Lacking New Questions
Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) chieftain Aisha Yesufu has voiced her irritation after watching the recent interview of the party’s 2027 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, on Channels Television’s ‘Politic Today’ programme.
Reacting to clips circulating on social media, Yesufu took to her X (formerly Twitter) account on Monday to say that the interview did not introduce any fresh topics.
She argued that everything Peter Obi said had been heard before, leaving viewers who tuned in feeling that their time had been wasted.
In her post, Yesufu wrote: “So Mr Peter Obi did an interview yesterday with Seun. I absolutely feel irritated by the whole thing.”
She continued, noting the usual excitement that surrounds Obi’s media appearances was absent this time, replaced by a sense of repetition.
“For this particular one, and maybe going forward, it is the feeling of irritation because what are we doing here? It is the same conversation every time. There is nothing he said that has not been talked about.”
Yesufu added that she could not pick out any new points from the discussion, saying she had searched for fresh questions but found none.
“I would have picked one or two things from the interview so we could talk about them, but I have been going through it and I have not seen any new questions or questions that we don’t already know the answers to. We wasted our time.”
She also questioned why the pressure to speak constantly falls on Obi while other political figures, whom she accused of manipulating their way into office, avoid similar scrutiny.
“Again and again, more pressure is being put on Peter Obi for him to be the one coming to talk to the people, but the former Lagos State governor, who rigged himself into the presidency, is not in front of the camera. He is not being judged. Can you ask questions about what we have not heard?”
