ADC Primary Election Allegations of Manipulation Surface
Ibrahim Wala, a senior member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), said the party’s presidential primary election was marred by intimidation, vote buying and other irregularities.
He echoed the earlier stance of former Transportation Minister Rotimi Amaechi, who had rejected the outcome, citing a lack of transparency and fairness.
In a Facebook post on Wednesday, Wala described the exercise as a “brazen, shameless auction” and argued that it betrayed the values the ADC promised to uphold.
Wala alleged that voters were intimidated and disenfranchised during the vote and that the final result was determined outside the official voting process.
He called on former Vice‑President Atiku Abubakar, who was leading in the preliminary results, to dissociate himself from what he termed “dirty, concocted primary election results.”
The ADC chieftain said he possesses “undisputed evidence of irregularities and voter disenfranchisement” from the exercise conducted in Gombe State.
Wala added that he was personally approached by an agent offering to take him to the committee leadership’s hotel room to secure what he needed.
He characterised that hotel room as a clandestine situation room where party leaders retreated after campaigning to finish their manipulative work behind closed doors.
