ADC Slams FCT Minister Wike Over Repeated Attacks on Amaechi
The African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rivers State Chapter, has issued a strong rebuttal to Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike after his latest remarks targeting former Transport Minister Rotimi Amaechi.
Wike claimed that Amaechi failed to secure 25 percent of the votes for late President Muhammadu Buhari during the 2015 campaign, using the allegation to question Amaechi’s political relevance.
In a statement released on Tuesday, ADC Publicity Secretary Chizi Enyi described Wike’s comments as a sign of fear rather than confidence, suggesting the minister is expending unnecessary energy on opponents he claims pose no threat.
Enyi argued that Wike’s fixation on past elections ignores the fact that each electoral contest is shaped by prevailing circumstances and the will of the electorate.
The ADC statement emphasized that Amaechi’s record in governance, public service, and national leadership stands on its own merit and does not require validation from those who judge politics by personal loyalty.
Furthermore, the party urged public officials to concentrate on pressing national issues such as the economy, insecurity, unemployment, infrastructure deficits, and the general welfare of citizens, rather than engaging in endless political quarrels.
Enyi reminded readers that Rivers State belongs to its people, and no individual can claim exclusive authority over how its citizens will vote in the upcoming 2027 elections.
The ADC concluded by reaffirming its commitment to credible leadership, responsible governance, and practical solutions, advising Wike to focus on his duties administering the Federal Capital Territory and allow Nigerians to make their democratic choices freely.
