ADC Claims First Polling Unit Victory in Ekiti Governorship Election
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) recorded its first victory in the Ekiti State governorship election after winning a polling unit in Okeruku Ward 02, Ikere Local Government Area.
Results from Ajagbala Hall Polling Unit showed ADC received 39 votes, surpassing the All Progressives Congress (APC) which garnered 29 votes, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) placed third with 17 votes.
ADC’s gubernatorial candidate, Dare Bejide, had previously raised concerns about violence targeting his supporters during the voting process.
Despite the polling unit win, Bejide lost his own polling unit in Ekiti South-West Local Government Area to incumbent Governor Biodun Oyebanji of the APC.
At Polling Unit 004 in Ward 2, Bejide secured 37 votes, whereas Oyebanji won with a commanding 140 votes, leaving the PDP with just two votes.
The outcome highlights a mixed performance for the ADC in the ongoing election, securing a symbolic win while facing strong APC dominance in the candidate’s home ward.
